True Lies was not a major success, despite it being well received by critics and getting an Academy of Country Music nomination for the most female-friendly vocalist. Evans was persuaded to change the repertoire for No Place That Far in 1999 by her producers. This gave her the public recognition she'd wanted for a long time.
